What We Believe
CORE BELIEFS
At Baker Boulevard Church of Christ, we firmly believe that the teachings of Jesus Christ, as revealed in the Holy Scriptures, are the true foundation upon which His church must be built. These teachings are not merely historical guidelines, but living principles that shape our faith, worship, and daily conduct.

We strive to follow the pattern set by the early church as described in the New Testament, seeking to honor Christ by aligning our beliefs and practices with His Word. What follows is a summary of the core biblical principles we uphold—faithfully and prayerfully interpreted from the Bible—as the guiding truths of our congregation and spiritual lives.
GOD
At Baker Boulevard Church of Christ, we believe in one eternal and sovereign God who exists in three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Though each Person of the Godhead has unique roles, they are united in essence, nature, and purpose—co-equal and co-eternal in all things.

God is the Creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible. By His power and will, the heavens and the earth were formed, and in Him all things continue to exist and find their purpose. Because of His majesty, authority, and the works of His hands, He alone is worthy of all glory, honor, and praise.

God is perfect and complete in every attribute. He is love—unfailing and everlasting. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, and ever-present. His holiness is unmatched, His goodness is abundant, His wisdom is beyond measure, and His justice is righteous and true. In His mercy, He extends grace to a fallen world, offering redemption and hope through Jesus Christ.

Our God does not change. He is constant and faithful, the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). His nature, His promises, and His purposes endure throughout all generations, giving us confidence and assurance in our faith.

Revelation

God has revealed himself to us through his son, Jesus Christ, who is the visible image of the invisible God, the holy scriptures, and through all of creation itself.

Mankind

Humans, both male and female, were created in God's image for His glory. The first humans, Adam and Eve, were created without sin and appointed as caretakers of the rest of God's creations.

The Fall

When Adam and Eve chose not to obey God, they ceased to be what they were made to be and became distorted images of God. This caused them to fall out of fellowship with God, and fractured all of creation ever since that time.

Salvation

Jesus Christ came to reconcile us with God. He lived a life without sin and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our transgressions. God raised Him from the dead and, by His grace, now offers eternal life as a free gift to all who, by faith, follow Christ as their Lord and Savior—turning from sin and being baptized in His name. This is why salvation is found in Christ alone.

Baptism

Jesus left an example of baptism as method in which one leaves the old self behind and takes on new life. He also taught his disciples to baptize new believers into His name.  Through baptism, our sins are washed away, and we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit as we are added to Christ's church.

The Church

The Church is the collection of baptized believers who are meant to be the visible body of Christ, sent into the world to glorify God and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Resurrection

Jesus Christ is returning one day to judge both the living and the dead and to usher in the fullness of God's kingdom on earth. Those who have accepted His salvation and lived a faithful life will enter in to the new kingdom to dwell in peace with God for all eternity.
